YOUTH MINISTRY COORDINATOR
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax in Oakton, VA is seeking a dynamic part-time Youth Ministry Advisor to stimulate and energize our program for high school youth. This position in Unitarian Universalist youth ministry involves youth in worship, leadership development, social action, and education and community building.

SUMMARY
The Youth Ministry Coordinator, in conjunction with the Director of Religious Exploration (DRE), will coordinate the religious exploration program for youth (10th – 12th grade) of the congregation. This position will work with the DRE to encourage and further develop our youth program and to encourage full youth participation in the life of the congregation. The Youth Ministry Coordinator will uphold the vision of youth programming developed by the Religious Exploration Committee and the congregation as a whole.

DUTIES
With Youth Ministry Committee, coordinate social, social action, fundraising activities
With volunteer Youth Advisors, coordinate Sunday morning youth programming
With RE Administrator, regularly communicate with youth and youth group parents
Facilitate annual youth group parent meeting
Coordinate youth group retreat
Supervise the planning of the annual Youth Worship Service
Ensure adequate youth supervision by volunteers as stated in the UUCF Safety Policy
Attend meeting and youth conferences as appropriate
Attend UUCF staff meetings as appropriate
Meet with supervisor as needed

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Youth Ministry Coordinator reports to the Director or Religious Exploration (DRE)

QUALIFICATIONS
25 years old minimum
Experience working with youth, possessing an understanding of human development and adolescent behavior
Familiarity with values, principles, and practices of Unitarian Universalism
Excellent communication skills and basic computer skills
Good Organizational skills
Ability to facilitate group activities and excellent team-building skills
Ability to coordinate and support volunteers

HOURS/SALARY
$18.00 per hour
10 hours per week
