Position Available Membership Coordinator THE COMMUNITY CHURCH OF NEW YORK UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST Our Unitarian Universalist Church in midtown Manhattan, with its mission “to grow as a caring, justice-making, anti-racist, diverse spiritual community,” is seeking to fill the position of Membership Coordinator. The Membership Coordinator enhances the welcoming and inclusive culture of the church through direct interaction with visitors, friends, and members and their children. The Coordinator helps develop the shared gifts and ministry of the church by connecting congregants with meaningful opportunities for fellowship, spiritual growth, and service to both the church and larger community. This position also has responsibility for core communication channels with members and the public. In these roles and in also assisting the Senior Minister, this individual makes substantial contributions in pastoral care, communications, community building, multi-racial/multi-cultural and intergenerational membership growth, and staff support, as well as taking on special projects as needed. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills and an ability to nurture volunteers and work with other staff in a service-oriented environment. Other necessary skills include tact and good judgment; flexibility, goal-orientation; ability to multi-task; editing, writing, spelling, grammar, & proofreading; knowledge of general office procedures. Computer skills: MS Office, MS Publisher, email lists, web page updating, and membership database software; familiarity and ability with (ACS) Automated Church Systems helpful, with training provided. The Membership Coordinator must also be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. EXPERIENCE: Four years in a position with interpersonal, public, or membership contact and integration, preferably with a non-profit organization. Administrative, communications, and program development background. Knowledge of and commitment to Unitarian Universalism. Competitive salary and benefits. Equal opportunity employer.
