Main Line Unitarian Church Position: Communications Coordinator Hours & Rate: 20 hours/week on average, $16/hour, conforming to Unitarian Universalist Association Fair Compensation guidelines. Benefits include medical and dental insurance (requiring pro-rated employee contribution), group life insurance, long term disability insurance, and, following one year of service, 401(A) retirement plan. Must be available during business hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays to meet weekly production deadlines. Additional days and hours required during monthly newsletter production. This is not offered as a telecommuting position. Summary: Reporting to the Director of Administration, the Communications Coordinator produces both print and electronic publications for the church. Works with: Ministers and church staff; church members who contribute content. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in English or Journalism Windows-based desktop publishing experience, including basic photo and image manipulation. Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Publisher is essential. Rudimentary knowledge of HTML and Web server file management. Experience with copiers and typical office equipment. Must be able to work efficiently and cheerfully under deadline pressure as a key member of a hard-working team. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding interpersonal communication skills in order to work effectively with ministers, staff colleagues, and the diverse membership of a large, democratically governed church. Initial employment is conditional pending a criminal background check. Note: Per policy, the church does not normally employ its members in staff positions. Typical Duties: Weekly: Prepare, submit for proofreading, correct, and print Order of Service and “Notes of the Week.” Prepare and send electronic “E-Notes.” Update content areas of Web site. Monthly: Prepare, submit for proofreading, and correct newsletter and send to print shop. As needed: Design, prepare, and print informational brochures. Prepare and send to print shop posters for roadside message sign. Other duties as required.
